It’s another beautiful day at the videostore and personally I’m very excited with one specific title hitting the shop this week. The Canadian genre film DEAD DICKS hits the shop later in the week and it has a very personal attachment to the videostore. Directed by Chris Bavota and Lee Paula Springer I was lucky enough to catch this film in Toronto last year which it took me by surprise emotionally. With a title like Dead Dicks I was not expecting to be moved by the end but there I was…feeling heavy in the heart when the credits rolled. A genre film made for very little money and using the real life issues of depression and mental illness wrapped in this bizarre tale is my recommendation of the week. And on a persoanl note co-director and co-writer Chris Bavota is the man who originally opened this very videostore in 2004 before I took over a year later. The Lobby would not exist without him so I could not be happier to be getting this film in the shop. He is a good friend and a filmmaker to keep an eye on in the future along with his partner in crime Lee. Also here is the rest of this week’s releases. Cheers…
