Well kids..it’s another edition of movie magic and this week’s big one is the creator of the Midnight Movies. 50 years ago the idea of people gathering in a smoke filled movie theatre in a major city at the midight hour was a new concept. It would take a certain kind of film to bring out the public looking for something very different and surreal or cultish. Before movies like Rocky Horror Picture Show, Pink Flamingos, and Eraserhead would draw that crowd it was one man and one bizarre western that would start it all. I’m talking about the great Alejandro Jodorowsky and the film would be EL TOPO. What would be John Lennon’s favourite film this event started a movement that still goes on to this very day. Gathering of crowds in the late night and feeling unitied by the common bound of experience of seeing something new and different. Anyways…here is this week’s cinema…
